Equal Opportunities & Diversity Policy

Diversity and inclusion is fundamentally about our responsibility to attendee’s wellbeing and sense of psychological safety and belonging. It’s about our attendee’s feeling their contributions are valued and being in a comfortable learning environment, raising ideas and concerns; to bring out the best, most productive version of themselves.

We are committed to ensuring that diversity and inclusion remains at the centre of our strategy to enable all people to live our values, be themselves and feel empowered to reach their full potential through accessible learning.

Equality Duty

Butterfly Touch Therapies Training’s Commitment to the Equality Duty

  • Butterfly Touch Therapies Training are committed to eliminating discrimination and promoting equality in our policies and in our dealings with attendees and subscribers to our training packages. We are committed to all aspects of equality and have published equality objectives covering all equality strands.
  • On these webpages we set out the actions that Butterfly Touch Therapies Training will take to ensure we meet these commitments and the requirements of the Equality Act 2010. This information informs both attendees and our stakeholders of our Equality Duty requirements and how we will achieve them.

The Equality Duty

  • The Equality Duty (section 149 of the Act) came into force on 5 April 2011. The Equality Duty applies to public bodies and others carrying out public functions.  It supports good decision-making by ensuring public bodies consider how different people will be affected by their activities, helping them to deliver policies and services which are efficient and effective, accessible to all and which meet different people’s needs.
  • Butterfly Touch Therapies Training is a UK Limited company registered under Butterfly Touch Therapies Limited No: 11194385. We have no employees and work alongside other self-employed contractors.

Our Equality Duty applies to attendees for face to face and e-learning training and when dealing with members of the public, private businesses and covers the following protected characteristics:

  • age
  • disability
  • gender reassignment
  • pregnancy and maternity
  • race – this includes ethnic or national origins, colour or nationality
  • religion or belief – this includes lack of belief
  • sex
  • sexual orientation
  • marriage and civil partnership (only in respect of the requirement to have due regard to the need to eliminate discrimination)
  • The Equality Duty has three aims. It requires public bodies to have due regard to the need to:
  • eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment, victimisation and any other conduct prohibited by the Act
  • advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it
  • foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it
  • Having due regard, means consciously thinking about the three aims of the Equality Duty as part of the process of decision-making. This means that consideration of equality issues must influence the decisions reached by public bodies – such as in how they act as employers; how they develop, evaluate and review policy; how they design, deliver and evaluate services, and how they commission and procure from others.
  • The Equality Duty is supported by specific duties, set out in regulations which came into force on 10 September 2011. The specific duties require Butterfly Touch Therapies Training to:
  • publish information annually
    • relating to employees who share protected characteristics to show how we are meeting the requirements of the Equality Duty
    • relating to Butterfly Touch Therapies Training policies and practices and the impact they have on people who share protected characteristics, ie our stakeholders
  • set and publish equality objectives, at least every four years
