Butterfly Touch Therapies trainer Marie Duggan has delivered a seminar at this years FHT Virtual Congress, as a chosen expert in Complementary Therapies in Cancer Care.

The event ran from Sunday 13th – Friday 18th June, and is the very first Virtual Congress held by the FHT. With over 640 attendees and 50 expert speakers, it has been hailed as a huge success and the largest educational event they have held to date. We are so proud that Marie was chosen to be the only speaker giving a seminar on ‘Complementary therapies in cancer care for Reflexology, Massage and Reiki Practitioners’, as a leading expert in this field.

In previous years the FHT have always held it’s congress as a face to face event  – but due to the pandemic, they were forced to diversify, and instead created a ‘Virtual’ congress. Despite some initial reservations that it would not match up to the face to face events, these concerns were soon dispelled, as the event was extended from the original 2 days – to 4 days, with pre-recorded seminars, live webinar sessions, networking via their Facebook group, all leading to some overwhelmingly positive feedback from attendees.

Marie’s seminar was centred around Complementary Therapies in Cancer Care – and Marie was able to share her own unique and educational insight into cancer and the palliative healthcare field. As with all of Marie’s oncology training for complementary therapists – the issues addressed included – What are we treating? Who can we treat? The benefits of complementary therapies in cancer care, consideration and cautions, how to adapt your treatments, working in a private practice or medical setting and relaxation using a Butterfly Touch.

Although the seminar is no longer available for viewing,  in the lead up to the event, Marie also recorded the first interview for the FHT International Therapist podcast, where she was able to discuss her background, her wealth of experience and knowledge, and her journey into the creation of her widely accredited oncology training courses for Massage, Reflexology and Reiki practitioners.
